On Monday, December 5 at 1 PM Pacific, I will be interviewed on cable TV by Dr. Jim White on his Circle of Success TV Show. It will be broadcast live on KYMB-TV, Comcast Channel 19 or you can watch it on the internet at http://jlwcos.tv/
The entire hour will be devoted to my newest program “How To Create A Smooth Road To Success With A 10 Mindset™”. While I feel honored and privileged to be able to share success strategies with a worldwide audience, this interview has a deeper significance to me on a personal level.
In order to explain the significance, I want to share with you the story of how I first met Jim. And then you’ll understand why this interview marks a milestone for me.
Six and a half years ago I sat next to Jim White at a business luncheon and I will never forget that conversation. Engaging in the normal business networking chit chat I asked Jim the typical question to get to know him better “What do you do?” He smiled at me and replied with a very unassuming energy, “I am best known for buying struggling companies and turning them around and then selling them.”
That peaked my interest and I asked “How many companies have you turned around?” He casually replied “22.” Now my interest was even more heightened and I asked yet another question. ”What is your best success story?”
He replied, “I bought a 100 year old company in Belgium that was struggling and doing about 12 million in sales when I bought it and when I sold it 7 years later, it was doing about $800 million in sales.” First I want to give a disclaimer that my memory might be a bit faulty of his exact response and I might be slightly off on the numbers here by a few million dollars. That doesn’t really matter because it’s what happened immediately afterwards that was so significant.
No sooner had Jim replied to my question then I heard this LOUD voice inside my head tell me “Don’t let this man go. He needs to be your mentor.” I have to admit, the voice seemed so loud to me that I thought perhaps Jim had even heard it.
This is the first time I’ve ever experienced this type of phenomena. I’ve met many financially successful people in my career and there was something about Jim’s energy and of course… that divinely inspired voice in my head that told me this was a special opportunity I needed to pay attention to.
I scrambled to think of an idea to have a reason to keep a connection with Jim after the luncheon and then I thought of it. I asked if I could interview him for my e-newsletter and he was happy to grant me that interview.
True to his word, he granted me a 30 minute interview a few weeks later. Actually that 30 minute interview lasted 1 1/2 hours. Today Jim is my mentor, my friend and a deep supporter of mine. He so believes in the power of the 10 Mindset that he wanted to devote a full hour of his new TV show to this information.
Success is not dependent on the economy… it’s dependent on relationships. The RIGHT relationships. Over the years, I’ve nurtured my relationship with Jim and have rarely asked him for anything more that his advice on occasion. I have interviewed him a few more times over the years. And he has given me so much more than I could ever have asked for. And this time, he came to me and asked to interview me for his TV show.
What an honor. Six and a half years ago I heard a voice in my head that told me to take action and I followed it. Today I’ll be on TV because of that inner voice’s guidance.
Everyday YOU will be presented with opportunities that could be seeds of something that will take roots and grow into something powerful days, months or even years later you can’t predict. Pay attention to those opportunities and SEIZE them!
